We all learn in different ways and have a different set of strengths and weaknesses - no two learners are the same. One-to-one tuition provides a safe environment that can build on individual strengths whilst at the same time moving carefully out of comfort zones to develop areas that are more challenging without fear of failure. Pinpointing specific targets and using a structured, cumulative and multi-sensory approach leads to success; confidence follows.
A 'must' for younger learners, lessons take place in a dedicated teaching room in my home. We're talking hands-on, worksheet free fun that develops those all important building blocks to literacy. Different strategies work for different people and as I work with your child I will be able to see how they learn best. Language games, personal flashcards and kinaesthetic activities are all likely to be included.
These can work well for children aged 8+ who are confident using a keyboard and can concentrate on a screen. Technology has advanced rapidly and means that multi-sensory, engaging and fun lessons can be taught remotely. Interactive whiteboards can be used for annotation, documents can be shared and games can be played, all from the comfort of your own home.
What Next?
An initial consultation, which may include some assessment, will be the starting point for developing your child's programme. Lessons are one hour long, including any feedback to parents, and are charged at £45. If working remotely, some materials may need to be supplied and these will be charged. After our initial meetings and a trial lesson, I ask that you commit to a block of six lessons at a time which can be paid on a weekly basis or in a lump sum in advance. Please get in touch to discuss how I can help.
